Koen Maes has over 23 years of experience in the international music industry as manager of the internationally acclaimed Brussels Jazz Orchestra (BJO). Under his leadership, BJO performed in numerous countries, including the Netherlands, France, Luxembourg, Spain, Portugal, Andorra, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Italy, Ireland, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania, Estonia, Canada, USA, South Africa, Singapore and Abu Dhabi.
He collaborated with an impressive list of national and international artists including Wynton Marsalis, Toots Thielemans, Maria Schneider, Kenny Werner, Joe Lovano, Dave Liebman, Tom Harrel, Philip Catherine, Bert Joris, Dave Douglas, David Linx, Bob Mintzer, McCoy Tyner, Chris Joris, Maria Joao, Gianluigi Trovesi, Phil Woods, Kenny Wheeler, deFilharmonie, Brussels Philharmonic, Tutu Puoane, Michel Herr, Richard Galliano, Chris Potter, Perico Sambeat, Michael De Cock, Warre Borgmans, Ryan Truesdell, Darcy James Argue, Hugo Matthysen, John Beasley, Stefan Hertmans, De Frivole Framboos, DJ Grazzhoppa, Monique Harcum, Kommilfoo, Rony Verbiest, Marc Godfroid, Frank Vaganée, ZAPP4, and … many others.
BJO collaborated on the soundtrack of the multi-award-winning motion picture The Artist and released more than 20 albums. The album Wild Beauty featuring Joe Lovano was nominated for two Grammy Awards.
